Aoife Murphy is a chartered engineer with over ten years’ experience in the design and construction of building structures. She has a particular interest in the conservation of historic structures and won a 9 month scholarship with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings which gave her hands-on training in relation to historic building conservation across the UK and Ireland, including experiencing traditional techniques and sympathetic repairs in-situ.
Aoife joined the practice in March 2018. She qualified with an honours degree in Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering and an ordinary degree in Mathematics from Trinity College Dublin.
Since graduating, she has gained experience both in Ireland and New Zealand, where she spent over six years carrying out assessments of earthquake-damaged residential buildings throughout Christchurch and designing and supervising repair works.
Following her application for chartership to Engineers Ireland, she was awarded the Chartered Engineer of the Year Award 2018, having been shortlisted as one of six engineers from approximately four hundred applicants.
