Athy Model School

Athy Model School was built by the Board of National Education between 1850 and 1860 on land leased for the purpose by the Duke of Leinster.  It continued in use as a school until 2010 when a fire destroyed the upper floors and about two-thirds of the roof.  We assessed the existing fire-damaged roof structure; designed repairs for existing timber trusses where required; designed new timber roof structure consistent with and sympathetic to the original structure to allow roof to be reinstated to its condition before the fire.
